The Legends Championships is part of the Outback Champions Series, which comprises a total of eight tennis events featuring world-class players over the age of 30. In order to be eligible to compete in any of the Outback Champions Series events, players must either have been ranked in the top five in the world, reached a Grand Slam singles final or played singles on a championship Davis Cup team. As a result, the Legends Championships and the other events in the Outback Champions Series provide exciting venues for skilled players to exhibit their competitive skills. With round-robin match formats and $150,000 in prize money, the Legends Championships promises to be an exciting event.
The Legends Championships is the second of eight events in the 2008 series and will be hosted by The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton,
The clay-court event is scheduled to begin April 16, 2008 and will feature eight international players. With a complete line-up of players recently announced by InsideOut, spectators can look forward to the skills and athleticism of John McEnroe, Jim Courier, Jimmy Arias, Wayne Ferreira, Todd Martin, Mats Wilander, Mikael Pernfors and Paul Haarhuis. The end of the first day of play will be marked by a Kickoff Party and the tournament will also feature special events such as a "Kids Day" and sponsor clinics. The event will draw to a close with the Championship Match on April 20, 2008.
